SANDI TRAVELS: Essence Fest

Happy 4th of July! I hope you had a restful weekend.

Remember my trip to New Orleans last year? I loved the city so much, I visited for the third time (and may continue to do so annually until the end of time). TBD.

This time, I went with my sister and my crew of college friends-turned-fr-amily. Like last year, I had the time of my life. We stayed in a cute, colorful house in the Carrolton neighborhood of uptown New Orleans. Our hot days were spent eating & talking, participating in minimal activities and letting things go as they may. We took a stroll down Bourbon Street, we attended an Essence Fest concert (highlight: Mr Lover Lover Shaggy!), we listened to jazz on an old steamboat, we met George, a baby alligator during a swamp tour, we learned a great deal about Cajun history...and did I mention we ate? We hoovered food down like hogs.

Please do yourself a favor and make your way to this beautiful and historical city. You won't regret it.
